Physical Requirements
This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.
Shift
Primarily dayshift; Monday – Friday; typically every 4-6 weekends and some holiday requirement.
Job Summary
UK HealthCare is seeking a highly-motivated full-time pharmacist for a clinical pharmacist position with the neurosciences/pulmonary pharmacy team at UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky. In this position the candidate will provide pharmaceutical care to all patients admitted to the services covered by UKHealthCare Neuroscience-Pulmonary Critical Care pharmacy team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: participating on patient care rounds, reviewing and perfection medication orders, reviewing medication profiles to ensure appropriateness of therapy, contacting and conferring with physicians and other practitioners to optimize medication therapy, actively participating in all aspects for the medication reconciliation process, and promotion of economically conscientious use of medication. The pharmacists will also provide educational services to the pharmacy technicians, students, residents, nurses, pharmacists and providers through precepting, in-services and/or presentations.
This pharmacist would primarily cover patients assigned to the medical intensive care unit but should be prepared to occasionally cover other types of patients. The pharmacist makes clinical interventions in terms of patient education, clinical pharmacokinetic/anti-coagulation monitoring, drug information, cost-effective care analysis, direct patient care through interdisciplinary rounds, and interacting with pharmacy residents and students. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an ACPE -accredited school/college of pharmacy, completed an ASHP -accredited PGY1 residency (or equivalent experience) at a minimum and must be eligible for licensure in Kentucky. Completion of an PGY2 residency encouraged.
The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $104,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

Preferred Education/Experience
PharmD and ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
